About Us
AKURRA Motorsport is a visionary, passionate and innovative FV Racing Team based in Melbourne. The team was established in 2018 by Lucas Khawam with a strong vision and a modern innovative approach.
The team started with a single car competing in the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championship (VSCRC). It wasn’t long before the team became the fastest growing FV team in Australia, now including 6 cars, additional drivers, multiple pit crew and support staff.
The team prides its self on its innovative approach facilitating easy access to affordable Motorsport, and currently competes in the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championship (VSCRC) and other state and national racing competitions.
The team has been in the media on multiple occasions, recently appearing on Channel 9 News Article broadcast nationally, an ABC Radio Interview, and a Motorsport.Org.Au article.
Team Name
The origins of the word “Akurra” come from the Aboriginal people of South Australia. Akurra is a mythical serpent deity, with powers and abilities that can shape lands, mountains and rivers.
AKURRA Motorsport acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the tracks on which we race. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture, and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
